Lee Downer MIoL CMILT

Chairman

Lee has been the Club Chairman in excess of ten years.

Outside of the Club he is a member of the Institute of Leadership and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport and is the Fleet Manager of a local waste management company, responsible for the legal compliance of a fleet of over 100 heavy goods vehicles and drivers.

He is married to Lizi and in 2022 they celebrated their Pearl wedding anniversary. Lee also enjoys a very keen interest in aviation.

Ian Osborne

Vice Chairman

Ian has served the Club for many years and has enjoyed the positions of Committee, Vice-Chairman and Chairman. He takes a keen interest in the Sunday night bingo often calling the numbers.

Away from the Club, Ian is a heavy goods vehicle driver and spends many a night travelling along the roads of the south and the south-west.

Jackie Crabb

Treasurer

Jackie is our Club Treasurer and previously served on the Committee.

She is responsible for keeping the Club accounts in good order and carries out her duties efficiently. She is a keen darts player and captains and plays for one of the DOC’s teams.

Jackie is a great lover of all things to do with tigers and at home, much of her time is spent spoiling her cat. If she won the lottery, she would buy a beach house with a boat, somewhere hot!

Shelley Watt

Secretary

Shelley having been a Committee member in excess of three years, is now the Club Secretary.

Outside of the Club She works in the hospitality industry. Married to Stuart, she has two twin children.

Shelley is a keen golfer but spends much of her time involved with the local Scouts / Explorers.

Phil Howells

Committee Member

Phil’s nickname is ‘Cider’ and as that would suggest, he has is a keen liking for the apple beverage.

A Committee member for two years now, Phil is now retired. Prior to that he was a Logistics Engineer for an underfloor heating company.

As beverages go, one of his pet hates, is tea!

Annie Harrop

Committee Member

Annie has been on the Committee for the past seven years and for three years served as the Club Secretary.

She also forms part of the Entertainments Sub-Committee.

Annie was a keen reading enthusiast until eye problems became an issue. She was also a keen walker and enjoyed trips to the theatre.

Sylv Woodridge

Committee Member

Sylv was previously a member of staff for six years and was titled ‘Senior Bar Person’, but now back as a member of the Committee.

She has been actively involved in the club scene since the age of 18.

Her hobbies include reading and she enjoys playing the lottery, in the hope of winning enough money to buy a Porshe Carrera.

Ian Lasseter

Committee Member

Born in Portsmouth, Ian lives in Fareham with his wife Lisa and their daughter. He works for a local steel fabrication company.

In his own time Ian likes all sports and enjoys walking the dog. He is a big fan of cooking and especially enjoys trying his hand at Indian cuisine.

If he won the lottery he says he would help to look after those less fortunate than himself.

Moira Clements

Committee Member

Married to Pete, Moira is a wife, mother and nana and she likes to socialise.

Her hobby is making celebration cakes and cupcakes and she does do a very good job too.

Her big dislike is inconsiderate drivers.

Moira says if she won the lottery, she would be amazed, but a very happy lady.

Hazel Garrett

Committee Member

Hazel is retired but an ex- Wren in the Royal Navy. She has previously been a dinner lady, barmaid and of course, a Mother, with all that that entails.

She has been on the Committee for a number of years and her claim to fame is getting her suits mixed up when calling Hoy.

Previously a keen stamp collector she now enjoys knitting and art.

Paul Dunne

Committee Member

Paul has been in the glazing business for over 35 years and following that formed his own business concerning double glazing repairs.

Paul enjoys a keen interest in bowls and spent many years with his cocker spaniel 'Blue' as his companion.

Paul had previously had involvement with the CIU at a senior level, speaking at conferences, campaigning for the right for women to have equal votes.

He cannot tell you what he would do if he won the lottery, as he does not play it!

Club Staff

Bridget Malcolm

Door Person

Bridget served on the Committee between 2017 and 2021 at which point she took up the position of the Clubs Doorperson.

Whilst no longer a Committee member, Bridget still volunteers to help out with all manner of events, including to help run and play bingo on a Sunday evening. In her spare time she plays darts for the DOC ‘A’ team.

Outside of the Club, Bridget enjoys gardening and spoiling her Grandchildren.

Graham Craven

Steward

Graham has previously served on the Committee and later as senior bar person. He was promoted to Steward in August 2023, after the sad loss of the former Steward and his brother, Phill.

He also looks after any minor maintenance required on the premises, drawing on his many years of experience in the buildings trade.

Geoff Palmer

Bar Staff

Geoff has been by far, our longest serving member of staff with over 25 years of service. He is also a maintenance worker in a day centre.

Married to Pat, he enjoys gardening and walking. Geoff also builds tables and benches as DIY projects.

Laura Osborne

Bar Staff

Laura is a qualified hairdresser and has used her skills in the Club for charity events.

Her ideal job would be as a holiday park entertainer and she says her hobbies are eating and sleeping.

She isn’t much fussed about winning the lottery as she says she would probably only waste it anyway.

Deanna Osborne

Kitchen Porter

Deanna is our Kitchen Porter and does a good job of keeping the kitchen operational for the team to work in.

Deanna plays the guitar and her other hobbies include drawing and reading.

Currently studying at college, her ambition is to become a special effects make up artist.

Mick Suggett BEM

Mick Suggett BEM

Bar Staff

Part of the bar team, Mick served for 24 years in the Royal Navy, ending as a Chief Petty Officer and was awarded the British Empire Medal for military service worthy of recognition by the Crown.

Married to Barbara for over 47 years, Mick enjoys snooker and fishing.

If he won the lottery, it would definitely see them on a round the world cruise.

Emma Wright

Bar Staff

Emma is part of the bar team having joined us recently. She has been in the hospitality sector for approximately 8 years.

She has two boys whom she adores and she loves to go on camping trips and exploring.

She says if she ever won the lottery, she would buy a Volkswagon and go travelling.

Kieran Hibberd

Bar Staff

Kieran is a newer member of our staff but has settled in and got top grips with the job very quikley.

When he is not working, he likes to relax and socialise with his friends and family at the DOC and have a great laugh and a chat about the week they've had.

If he won the lottery he would buy a big house with some land and also give some money to charity and his friends.

Sue Skeet

Bar Staff

Sue started work aged 16 and has been involved in a variety of industries including retail, as a hairdresser and later in the care industry. In 1989 Sue started training as a SEN but after six months found she was expecting her twin boys. Staying in the care industry until the sad loss of her Mum, she decided enough was enough. Working at the DOC she displays good communication skills and enjoys the banter with the members.

A lottery win would see her pay off the mortgage, take a nice holiday and buy a new car. She would then give some money to charity.

Sam Osborne

Cleaner

Sam is a member of our cleaning team and, with Emma, does a superb job of keeping the Club clean and tidy.

Married to Ian for over 28 years, she says she has no time for hobbies.

She holds two jobs and her passion is the satisfaction of a good job well done. If she won the lottery, a new car would definitely be on the cards.

Emma Beaven

Cleaner

Emma works alternate shifts to Sam and also ensures the cleanliness of our Club.

Her hobbies include jet-skiing and walking her dog Tyson.

Married to Darren with three daughters, Emma says if she won the lottery she would definitely buy a villa somewhere lovely and hot.
